Barloworld’s John-Lee Augustyn attacked from the break over the top of the final climb and looked to be in with a chance for a stage win until he overcooked a bend and slid down an embankment. He stopped himself from falling, but his bike plummeted into the valley below and he was forced to wait for the following cars to get a spare bike.
